FEDEMAC e.V. (The Federation of European Movers Associations)
was registered as an independent European organisation on 1 January
1995. Up until then, administration was taken care of by AMOE, the German Movers Association, which itself
is a constituent Member of FEDEMAC. The FEDEMAC office/secretariat is based in Hattersheim, near Frankfurt. Today FEDEMAC represents the interests of around 4.000 Professional Moving Companies in 22 European Countries. FEDEMAC's main function is to co-ordinate National activities at a European level. Much of this work is centred around lobbying at the EU Parliament and Commission as well as liasing with National associations, other Trade organisations such as the IRU, the WCO (World Customs Organisation), BEUC (Consumer's Group), TLN and official representatives. FEDEMAC works continuously towards the harmonisation of working
methods, quality standards, training and co-operation within the
Moving industry. Communication, magazines, newsletters, directories and the use
of modern IT tools form an important part of this work. |
